Arya Nielsen, PhD
Dr Arya Nielsen is an American acupuncturist taught in the classical lineage of Dr James Tin Yau So and in practice for 50 years. She graduated in the first class of the first acupuncture college in the United States in 1977. She is considered the Western authority on the traditional East Asian technique Gua sha. Dr Nielsen has an academic research doctorate and a faculty appointment at a New York teaching hospital, Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. Her research on nonpharmacologic options in medicine focusses on acupuncture therapies. Dr. Nielsen teaches internationally on topics related to East Asian medicine and Integrative medicine.
